Was wondering if this was possible? I had to toss out my Dell Studio 1555 a while ago and when I ordered it they gave me Reinstallation DvD for Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I'm soon getting a netbook equipped with Windows 7 Starter and I was wondering if I could use this CD to effectively install Vista on the netbook, or if this CD is specifically tied to my old 1555?

Maybe it works, maybe it don't. Depends what kind of dvd it actually is. Some are just regular install discs that work anywhere, others may contain an image of working system specific to the computer it was meant to.

You still need a valid Vista license code to provide during/after install.
