    Hi everyone.
I got sloppy with the antivirus on my desktop and now I have some bugs.
My desktop is an HP with the HD divided into the regular section and a partioned recovery section.
If I buy a new copy of windows, will it let me reinstall and reformat the whole drive without too much difficulty? (I'm not real good with some of this stuff)
    Thank you.

Why do you want to buy a new copy of .Windows? If you have the recovery partition, why not simply do a system restore from the recovery partition?

Why to install from new copy, why not from recovery or backup CD. It is shortest possible way to restore your system to company configuration.

Your recovery partition is effective, so restore from that partition or recovery CD in a shortest possible time

Well to answer your question, yes, you will have the option to repartition your drive and install Windows where you like. Early in the installation all your partitions will be displayed. At this point you can chose which one to install Windows on. Alternatively, you can delete all of them and use one large partition. It's very easy, just read the instructions displayed on the screen at that point of installation.

However, I'm the crowd, asking why? Your recovery partition already has a copy of Windows. Unless you're looking to upgrade to a newer or more suitable version of Windows, it is a little pointless.
