I just bought a $100 TV tuner. It could be had as standalone for $100 or with the WMC remote for $130. Having no need for a remote, I bought the standalone one. Now, while configuring, WMC tells me an IR receiver is mandatory.

What the hell? Can I bypass this?
I really, really am frustrated now

I have a X360 receiver for Windows if that can help...

I don't have to use remote for WMC, I use it all the time.

It absolutely wants me to set up the TV before using the TV tuner. And the IR remote is a mandatory step for set upping TV.
And are you on a laptop? Laptops usually have an IR receiver out of the box. I'm on a desktop

    I got it now.
My PS2 is plugged through Composite so WMC detects it as Set-top box cable, and for that a remote is mandatory.
