See the arrows. One of the links I have has an embarassing screenshot of gmail, and I'd like to either remove all links under gmail or just that one or change its screenshot. Whichever is easiest.

I am not sure what these square links under the google search bar are called an am having trouble figuring out how to get rid of them.

Uninstall it like a Malware...and kill all it's toolbars...very simple. This is why I don't like Chrome...unless you custom install it you will get all those junk Chrome stealth loads and it becomes a pain in the (&(&(& to get rid of it. My other family members installed Chrome and I found it and wiped it off from the face of the earth. That's my opinion of it.

Just click the [x] on the top right corner (of the images, not the browser...)

Yes, but it comes right back up a few logins later.

The screenshot on gmail that chrome is using has adult content from an email I got and this fact could get me into some bad situations if someone at school or in the public saw it.

What if a classmate saw nudity on chrome as you opened it?

I rely pretty heavi chrome extensions and will continue using chrome.

Therefore, I am looking for a more permanent solution that is idiot proof so even if I open chrome that picture will not come up.

A casual search on the Chrome appstore only shows one extension that's relevant, though it seems to be broken by recent Chrome updates.

In the meantime, just open up Chrome in Incognito mode, which won't show your most visited webpages.

Or when you feel the need you could go to settings (in Chrome)>> Show Advanced Settings >> Privacy >> Clear Browsing Data >> tick 'Browsing History' >> and choose 'Obliterate the following items from the beginning of time' >> Clear Browsing Data

Upon doing this you should find the visual bookmarks reset to two sites- the default 'Chrome Web Store' and the 'Welcome to Google Chrome' visual bookmarks. I use Chrome mainly for watching videos on YT as I find it does a very good job loading and playing back video. Then as habit before I log out I tick every option to 'Obliterate' and clear the data before leaving Chrome. IIRC there is no way to keep those bookmarks from loading unless you either use Incognito Mode as Jarhead suggests or you selectively decide what data your installation of Chrome will keep or not keep.

    Thank you Ms. Torquoise!

I did the above steps but chorme quickly refilled the picture links under the google search bar

And the links were gone for a while

But I use google chrome and gmail fairly often

And Chrome refilled the picture links with gmail and some other ones.

And chrome for whatever is sitll using the screenshot with nudity even though I am not even on that same gmail account

What are some other options? How do I get gmail to replace that screenshot?

Sorry to hear about that. Do you do the actual sign-in when you use Chrome as a browser? And if so do you do this with other devices (laptops, mobile, desktop) as well? I'm asking because in settings there is an option to 'share' settings across multiple devices. I wonder if sharing these settings also includes browser history and the like? Perhaps following my steps in all shared devices might discard that NSFW pic? Sounds like the proverbial thorn-in-the-side! Good luck!
