So I removed WMP, but in WLM if I try to select Show what I'm listening to, I get an error saying I need WMP 9.0 or higher installed.

Anyone know of any workaround that I can use to get this functionality back without having to install WMP.

I'm using Songbird as my media player, I know it sends the Now Playing messages because I installed the addon and it worked in Vista. I'm assuming it works in Windows 7, its just this WMP "requirement" is preventing it from working.

    Why not keep WMP installed?

I ask the same question. What is the reason to remove it? AFAIK, removing it doesn't improve system performance.
