    Hi,

I just picked up an HP 4000 series laptop.

I've removed some programs already that I don't want or won't use.

There are still a few that I want to remove but don't know how.

It's the trial AOL, MSN, & Windows Messenger.

They're not listed in the Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.

    Your help would be appreciated.

reformat and reinstall the OS... don't bother with uninstalling.

eagle07...don't worry about those as they are just there...very small files, and they don't run in the background, so no resources used up.

Just leave it. Or remove them manually, by deleting them, then going into the registry and deleting all remnants of those files.

    Cheers,
    Mike

    thanks guys.

I could do a reinstall but that takes a lot of work. :(

I've decided to simply leave them alone. I may removed them per Mike's suggestion later on when I have a little more time and courage to get into the registry. That thought is just plain scary to me.

The AOL and MSN are probably not installed, just shorcuts to installers. They would or should show up in the add/remove if they were. As to Windows Messenger, I don't know why that comes in XP any more, since they've replaced it with MSN Messenger, which does not remove Windows messenger on install. Anyway, use this to get rid of WM:
