My Toshiba laptop came with Vista Family Edition pre-installed. I have been using it for a while now and hating it. I can't create, rename, or delete a folder without Explorer getting stuck; can't bring up localhost, and basically my wired and wireless connection cuts at random times for no explicable reason. Anyway, I believe I've wasted enough time trying to get things fixed and decided to get rid of it.

So, I have already made a dual-boot of Vista with Linux Fedora - the latter stored on a seperate partition. What I'd like to know is, if it's okay to and how to remove Vista from my laptop now that I have another functional operating system (Fedora).

If it's impossible to remove Vista and keep Fedora, then I suppose I would need to install XP in order to remove Vista. Would I inevitably need an ORIGINAL xp disk to accomplish this procedure? Thanks in advance.

And sorry; don't know if this thread really belongs here.

Yeah you'll need an XP disc to install it. Someone else started a thread on converting a Toshiba laptop with Vista pre installed and changing it over to XP.

Thanks. I think I'm gonna format the harddrive, and have Linux reinstalled and erase the Windows partition in the process.

You know one thing you could try is doing a Vista clean install. If you have access to a Vista disc you could just enter the Vista Key from the bottom of your laptop. Did your Toshiba come with a Vista disc?
