It would seem to me that with so many pleas from owners of Toshiba laptops for help in replacing Vista with XP that the Toshiba management would have long posted a step-by-step with all necessary drivers.

I have a Toshiba A135-S4527 with factory installed Vista, and I would gladly contribute to an experts solution to replacing Vista with XP.

i'm in the middle of doing the same thing for my 305d. I have everything working except for 3 question marks. 2 of them for audio, and the last a ? for mass storage. I know if I keep digging i'll eventually finding. What I did was change my drive to compatibility in the bios, install xp, and then I searched for drivers on a similar model on the toshiba europe.

I think instead of putting all that effort into getting a seven year old OS on your new notebook you should just do a clean install of Vista.

I concur with atbnet , give vista a full heartedly try then if you don't like you can switch to XP if something is not working in Vista
