A response to an update of the "Cost Analysis of Windows Vista" article (which I believe is written by one of the forum members). Reading the cost analysis article many months ago was indeed very disturbing and it shook my confidence in Vista (I was apprehensive about the OS anyway), but the link above does point out some very compelling questions for the author of the cost analysis; why are there no reported real world cases of the limitations of Vista?
Hmmm...would anyone care to elaborate, or perhaps inject some new knowledge into the argument? This is a very interesting issue since it involves consumer rights, so that's why I brought it up. Btw, personally I don't use Vista, I just use XP for my few old games and Ubuntu for everything else. Most of my experiences with setting Vista up and troubleshooting it for friends have been negative.

The " Cost Analysis of Windows Vista" article was actually written by Peter Gutmann, although posters here have referred to it on occasion as proof of Vista's shortcomings. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of this in any case
