I've noticed that Vista has a number of issues after resuming from sleep or hibernation. According to Microsoft's website these can be due in part to the USB drivers, network drivers (Nvidia nForce controller), or the video driver (Nvidia).

I have been having the following two issues:

    1) resuming takes an abnormally long period of time, followed by Vista displaying a blue screen for less than a second. As a result I don't know the details of these blue screens. The computer then restarts.

    2) after resuming successfully, Vista's networking appears to be in working condition but the internet just doesn't work. I am able to connect to my university wireless, but I can't access the internet. Restarting resolves this issue.

Rooting through MS's Knowledge Base I found two Windows updates, but installing them resulted in the message "the OS version can't install this update".

Has Microsoft issued any fixes for these issues? I know that other people have them as well. Will they be released in the upcoming service pack?

Go to: my computer>properties>advanced>startup and recovery>turn off automatic restart
This will allow you to see the text on BSOD
Make sure you turn it back on when you are finished.
I assume it works in Vista the same way.

Wake from sleeping mode is an issue but it happens to me in both XP and Vista. My desktop 6600 and 8600GT don't "re-boot" the screen when the computer wakes-up and when I switch my 8600M GT to a 8600GTS, it does not work either. Working fine as a 8600M though

I wonder why resume is so hard to get right?-my computer has had to be manually restarted twice because it just wouldn't wake up-Not a good first impression to say the least

I'm using the driver 169.04 from laptopvideo2go. So far it seems to have served me well; the stock driver that came with my HP played all my games a 15fps maximum, while this one is very smooth.

I've had the same issues with vista...seems like once a week or every two weeks my computer responds to waking up but the monitor doesn't turn on.

Also, after waking up, sometimes it changes to low resolution once I get to the home screen. Sometimes it reverts back to 1440x900, others I have to go back and manually change it. It gets to be pretty annoying.

Vista just crashed on me again upon resuming from hibernation. The BSOD gave me the failure details 0x00000116 (0x87c90510, 0x8d629e40, 0x00000000, 0x00000002).

I've looked around and this seems to be a driver issue. Right now I am using driver version 169.12 from laptopvideo2go.
