I installed XP with Normal ATA enabled in Bios, installed the AHCI driver and changed to AHCI in Bios. It worked, but now I want o return to use the Normal ATA mode. How can I make it work again? I tried to install the old ATA driver instead the AHCI one and changed to Normal ATA in bios but I have a BSOD when entering Windows.

Why use ATA? The AHCI is better and newer.

But I think it is causing BSOD. I would like to try Normal ATA mode to see if this 8E BSOD disappear.

You may need to do a clean install.

    Here's what you should do...

    1) Download Intel Matrix Storage Driver from Dell and save it to a flash drive or external HDD.
    2) Boot from Vista OS disc.
    3) On the screen where it asks what partition you want to install Vista on, there should be an option to "Install Drivers".
    4) Select that option, and point to the location where you saved the Intel Matrix Storage Driver.
    5) Follow the rest and it should help!

I hope this works for you!
