I will be getting a new HP in the next couple of days and it has Vista 64bit. I would like to do a clean install, but since HP does not send a Vista disk, only their recovery partition (which includes the crapware), it won't work. Having experience with HP's I pretty much know what crapware I have to remove, including Norton and the other free trials, HP games, etc... I have used Revo uninstaller in the past for Norton and other crapware, but Revo does not support 64 bit.
What uninstaller program does everyone use for Vista 64? I want to be sure to get all the remnants in the registry as well as the programs themselves.
Thanks...

vista 64bit runs 32bit programs so revo should still work regardless.
-
I used Revo Uninstaller on the laptop in my sig, worked perfectly.
-
Yes Revo uninstaller works fine on 64bit. If it doesnt, you can always use CCleaner
-
Well, it works in the sense that it will uninstall programs, but it doesn't do any of the deep registry scanning or junk deleting in 64bit, right?
I'm learning that Vista seems to handle the registry much better than XP, so registry cleaning after uninstalls seems not to be nearly as necessary. -
All of the functions work fine in 64 bit.

Hmmm... http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_uninstall_programs_windows_vista.html.
Maybe I'll download it and try again. When I tried it a week or so ago, it didn't seem to work, but perhaps I did something incorrectly. -
On 64bit, Revo works fine.
-
I had no problem using unstall in Server 2008 x64 which is based on Vista SP1.
-
Odd that it didn't work for me. Do you have to "run as administrator"? That's probably what I didn't do...
-
Why is Revo Uninstaller better then using the uninstaller that came with the programs or using windows?
I to just ordered a new HP notebook. -
It tries to remove all remnants in the registry which the normal uninstallers leave.

Complain to HP if they're unwilling to send you a clean disk. You shouldn't ever be put into this situation, and finding a workaround is just a bandaid on the problem at large. OEMs really need to start learning that customer experience is improved if they have the option of doing a clean installation - that you need to have the ability to decide what is installed on your computer. Ask them why it seems that Sony and Dell have listened to their customer's requests by providing clean installation disks (on request or free), and why HP doesn't actually seem to care about the issue. Then ask whether this is the quality of service you should expect from them in the future, and why if so, they deserve your continued business.
Just living with it isn't going to make your next computer purchase in three or four years any better, and it won't actually get you want you want. -

You literally CANNOT talk to a US based person when you call HP support. Only if you call the sales phone number...they are all US based and speak English as a first language. But they refuse to help you with pretty much anything not haveing to d with making a sale... SAD... But I have always had good luck with HP products, so I continue to buy them.... -
does any one know if revo uninstaller works for windows 7 x64?

Just to revive an old thread
So I will be able to successfully uninstall programs without screwing anything up by using Revo Uninstaller on Vista 64-bit? I should just make sure that when removing the "bolded items" that they all sound like they are related to the program I am removing, correct? -

Okay, I will give it a shot when I get my laptop... I also contacted their Customer Support and received this response:
