I have a library of DVDs that i own (legally), but i want to burn a backup of them to my external hard drive. I want to be able to fit as many onto my hd as possible so i am looking to convert them to DivX before putting them on my HD. What programme(s) will i require to do this?

(p.s. i already have DVD Decrypter)

You could also read up on the plethora of conversion guides on www.videohelp.com

Just remember to change the filter to all guides, instead of leaving it on new guides :)
