Hi All. I'm new to RocketDock and so far I love it. I used to use the Alienware dock and it had weather and date/time docklet built in. I was just wondering how do I get this step by step into RocketDock.
Also, I've come across KkMenu and it seems very useful, where can I get this and how do I install it as well to use with RocketDock?

    Thanks!!! :D

I suggest ObjectDock if you are willing to switch. It has the Weather, date, etc. built right in to it from download. It has a cool weather feature. See my screenshot i just took.

^the extra info pops up after you click or hover over it ans to the right is the date. That is just one of the many appearance settings. That was copper bent glass or something.

I used to use objectdock. Alienware is part of ObjectDock. Only reason I don't want objectdock is because the better version for it cost 20 bucks. the free version isn't as good rocketdock, IMO.

Also, my "open running application instance" doesnt work.
I open Firefox, it minimizes to rocketdock, i click firefox icon and it runs a new instance. =[

Yeah, ObjectDock seems to be much more popular and useful. I have heard that it takes up quite a bit more memory than RocketDock, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Apparently not, since you can't get them working. ;) Where did you read that those docklets work with anything other than OD? I'm not certain, but was RocketDock even around in 2003, when these applets were written?

"Docklets are mini-applications that run inside an icon in RocketDock. They can tell you the weather outside, or show you how many emails are in your inbox. RocketDock currently supports docklets created for ObjectDock."

    ;)

EDIT: It works, I've seen ppl's SS woth them. Im jsut not doing it right...

I did some testing some time ago. Rocketdock used the most.

Have you tried contacting the people that have the OD applets working on RD? You might also try Googling for instructions on how to convert/use OD applets with RD.

I've heard it's the same as you would add docklets to RD. I just need to know the exact files to xfer to Docklets folder.

Download a RD applet and compare the file structure to the OD applet.

Although I've done no testing whatsoever and I really don't know the answer to the poster's question, I have heard that ObjectDock uses more resources. I'm not arguing, just saying. Either way, I don't think either uses enough resources to "kill" a computer. :p

Yes, i'm aware some people say that, it's kind of true. It uses more RAM initially, but after time it releases most of it back.

For RocketDock users, what do you guys think is the best looking skin. I'm having trouble finding a nice one. I hate how RD's site doesn't provide SS. Only some of them. >.>
