Hello!
I bought a notebook from DELL (Inspiron 1720), and it has a TSSTCorp manufactured DVD+/-RW(TS-L632D). I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. Whenever I install Windows Vista from scratch, ie, after a complete format, I can install the Roxio burning software that came with my notebook, Roxio Creator and MyDVD 9.
But, if for some reason (a problem with this software), I have to re-install it, I cannot! It has happened to me AT LEAST 20 times now.
A working install goes like this - I double click the setup, it installs the products, takes it's time, and asks me to reboot.
The error install goes like this - I double click the setup file (after the complete removal of the software), and it starts installing. Everything goes fine, and it installs within seconds. But when I press finish, I get an error. Here is it's print-screen. Both images are of the same error, it is two parts because the whole part is not visible in one image.

I have done it (the re-install) the Roxio way as well, using the MS utility to remove the products, delete the folders, remove the Registry key, AND then cleaned the registry. I have done it many times now, but to no avail. I have used the diagnostic start-up to install. I delete the LowerFilter registery key before installation as well. I have tried to install it after removing the Update Manager and Drag-to_Disc from the custom install as well. So far, every apparent solution that exists on the Internet regarding this has been tried by me, to no avail.
I have used the Vista-Roxio compatibilty fix as well (provided on your website).
Here are the security softwares that I use-
NOD32 2.7
Windows Defender
Spybot S&D (does not run when Windows starts)
Ad-Aware 2007 (does not run when Windows starts)
Though I have tried to install with the Diagnostic startupm, and Selective start-up selected from MSCONFIG, I doubt they are the culprits. Besides, it installs fine the first time at least.
This software has caused me at least 4-5 installations of Windows Vista, for some reason or the other. Please help me.
Now, everything is working fine (touchwood) in Windows Vista, and I have removed every trace of this software, and want to re-install.
Thank you!

I wouldn't touch anything coming from that software house even with a 10 feet pole.
You successfully got rid of that... thing, and are trying to install it again?
It's also a crippled version!
Wouldn't you be better off with another software? Try some free alternative. -
I have the same DVD drive as you but I don't use Roxio and MyDVD, I use Nero 8 and no problems
-
I'm downloading Nero Trial right now, version 8.1.1.0, let see how it works out!
Will I have to install a Vista compatibilty patch or anything like that?
If it does works out, I will break the Roxio CD/DVD in half and then burn it, literally! -
I have NEVER seen such an incompetant software in my life, and yes, I have seen Norton Antivirus'! Seriously, you don't know the amount of frustrations it has caused me, re-install after re-install, of Vista!
Roxio Creator and MyDVD 9.0 re-installation problem!
