Hello
Recently I noticed RunDLL32.exe in my startup list.
Before it was not listed there.
I read it might be used for malicious and spyware programs. But at the same time I'm scared to remove it cause it is important for windows to work stable.
What shall I do?

hmm...
i am not sure but i think you will notice that rundll32.exe when you plug-in something into your computer. my thinkpad has also this one (because of plug and play gigabit ethernet and module-drive)
also on my old laptop, that rundll32.exe pops up in the task manager everytime i use my external harddrive (USB2.0)
check it just in case.. im not sure -
hello
thanks for replying...
Actually I didn't plug anything recently...Might be it appeared in the list when I plugged something via the USB, and is still there.
But I'm sure it was not in the list before even when I did plug a peripheral via the usb, it was not there. That's why I'm afraid it has something to do with malicious thingy....
????

Try removing it from your Windows startup list. I do not have RunDLL.exe on the startup list on any of my Windows machines, so removing it shouldn't cause that much of a problem. You could always just put it back on to your startup list if things don't work out right.

Hello budding
yes its actually RunDLL32.exe
Hope I will not scew it up.... ;/ -
rundll.exe is most definitely a windows process. I got that after I installed my MS bluetooth desktop set about four years ago. My desktop is still functioning properly so unless it is really slowing down your system or messing it up, just leave it alone.

Rundll.exe and Rundll32.exe are Windows dynamic link libraries required to run apps. Check out:

The thing is, rundll32.exe is a very tricky process. It is in fact a process that Windows uses. However, several types of spyware and adware also use rundll32.exe as their file of choice, mostly because it is a windows process and often times windows uses more than one instance of rundll (sometimes you'll have two or more instances of rundll32.exe in your process list). This makes it extremely difficult to determine if it is spyware or not. But like Qhs says, unless you are experiencing severe slowdown or problems with Windows, it probably isn't anything malicious.

I agree with Qhs,and notebook ftw just leave it unless its a big problem.
RunDLL for you life!!
