This is a weird one, after running CPU-Z my audio starts to crackle. I've heard that this is often caused by DPC latency so I installed the DPC Latency Checker tool and noticed that once i run CPU-Z the latency jumps from ~250 µs to ~40 000 µs and stays there even after closing the program. Any idea what might be causing this?

That is strange that it persists after closing cpu-z. Perhaps some other program is upset when cpu-z is run and causing the high latency. Try modifying the cpu-z.ini file to turn off some of the sensors by setting their option to 0 and see if it still does it.
