I feel like I've been the only one never, ever, ever to have tried out Mac OSX and am just sick and tired of everyone saying how much better it is than XP, which I've happily been using for about 4.5 years, its been a wonderful OS for me.

Since everyone is raving so much about OSX, I'm naturally curious to try it out myself but alas don't have a Mac. Since now Macs have Intel processors and have Intel versions of OSX, it should be pretty easy to make it work in PCs right? Right?

I've seen several guides on people making it work on their PCs and saw one here,

    http://post-spm.blogspot.com/2005/08/mac-osx-running-natively-on-pc.html

Has anyone here gotten OSX to work on their PCs and how is it? I probably won't be using it as my main OS, will most likely just be checking it out and seeing that all the **** hype is about and then get rid of it.

I've got it running on my M6Va notebook, man that OS is FAST! Sound, trackpad, bluetooth and dvd burner work, but the rest isn't working right now.

I've used it (family and friends have it) its definetly fast and pretty and very easy to use but for me I like things to be somewhat complicated. I like tinkering with software and hardware-macs aren't for people like me (and many of you) they are the closest one can get to a computer that is like a house appliance :p

I take issue with the idea that mac users are more intelligent at best they are equal to Pc users if not less so.

I wonder how long it will be before Dell and other OEM's start *****ing and trying to get OSX to ship with/work with their machines. Could lead to an apple monopoly similar to and rivaling M$ .... although that would effect hardware sales.

I don't care if somethings like the sound or wireless drivers wouldn't work, I just wanna try it out for a bit before getting rid of it, just to quench my thirst of OS knowledge. ;)

Wait a sec, I'd better also try Linux which everyone's been raving about, sigh, I'm so Windows brainwashed.

Hey! I love the Mac OS (and XP for that matter) and I'm not dumb when it comes to computers!

Apple will NEVER release their OS to OEMs like Dell and HP - its the only thing that keeps their hardware seperate from them. Apple sells an entire platform, which separates them from the PC competition. If Apple released their OS to other makers, they would become like MS - only developing software because their hardware would be overpriced compared to the competition.

I installed Ubuntu linux on my new notebook alongside XP just to see what it's like. I had Mandrake linux before a few years ago and it was so-so, but Ubuntu is supposedly the best distro around right now. Alas, I haven't tried it out yet because of a stupid error that needs to be resolved on boot, but I'll get it working soon enough.

You should definetly try out linux. Ubuntu is alright but fedora is the best (knoppix is nice for booting from disc also as is ubuntu)

Anyway apple would love to be like microsoft and they are working towards that this is just another step. Look at the fight in france over the Ipod and Itunes.

Its an expensive OS to I just looked at buying a copy, $130 I suggest playing with linux-its free. :)
