What does this particular error message mean? I shows up when I try lunching Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary and the software doesn't run.
I've already tried contacting the support centre of Cambridge and the developer of this software -- they could not help me.
The strange thing is -- I can run the dictionary on my desktop system (with XP Pro) but can't get it work on my laptop (XP Home and recently tried on Pro with no results).
I've also searched the Web to find out the solution and all I found was Microsoft support page's suggestion it might be a worm/virus when runtime error 216 occurs.
This info doesn't satisfy me because I'm sure there's no worms on my system.
Any suggestions please?

if you have tried the software on your laptop with two different installs of windows that leads me to believe it's an issue with a driver for a certian piece of hardware in your laptop. You might try updated drivers for all hardware, video drivers first. Also try scanning your memory with a program like memtest 86 just to be certain that the program isn't trying to access a spot on your mem that contains a bad block or something.
Sharp AL27, Athlon 64 2700+ 60Gb hdd, 512Mb mem, 64Mb vid, superbright lcd. Great choice for business use.
