Question for anyone that might know, I just ran sfc /scannow on the GS60 with 8.1.1 in my signature, and it gave me an error saying files weren't repairable... and for some reason gave me two new icons on the desktop:
"Korea Media Player Center" - Provides users in Korea with information about third party media player software
"Korea Messenger Center" - Provides users in Korea with information about third party messaging software
I don't have any other language packs installed that I can tell, nor anything else related to Korea best I can tell.
I have since fixed the SFC /Scannow problem after running dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.
I just can't find anything online that talks about these two Korea icons?? Is this normal Windows behavior? I'm assuming I can just delete them but would like to know why they appeared in the first place.
Thanks!

wonder if it could be a virus.
try a virus scan in safe mode just in case but over the last 12 months there have been some very crafty trojan viruses doing the rounds.
had a quick look on google https://www.google.co.uk/#q=Korea+Media+Player+Center+shortcuts
one of the posts mentions lots of chinese style writing and symbols. if you have these then good luck as this was the same bugger that somehow got into my hospital system network and was a nightmare to get rid of.
another mentions language pack from operating system so the honnest answer from me is im not exactly sure what they are and where they came from. -

Do you have any Samsung Devices, or software installed? also how do you know it`s Korean? what does it say.

Its similar to what this guy linked below is describing, but they only appear after running sfc /scannow.
I struggle to think its a virus since they seem to be created by windows, but running a full scan now. Just confused what they are for or why they were created, worried they indicate deeper Windows issues.
Don't have any Samsung devices installed I'm aware of... this is a week old MSI laptop using the out of the box windows 8.1 install if that matters.
Oddly, I see some random references to these icons on Google dating back to Vista and 7.

I have a faint memory that Korean versions would have had localized software (links to them) instead of MSN Messenger and Windows Media Player.

ha, interesting KLF... I just checked my start menu, and sure enough, they are located there under the "k's" as well... I just clicked one of the icons and it goes here:
Media Player and Messenger Installation
And here:
Media Player and Messenger Installation
I have no clue what these sites say, but they both do say "© 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved." at the bottom.
That's the only English on the page.
I am literally clueless as to what these are... is it safe to assume this isn't virus related? Maybe MSI's stock install related? I don't even know how to get rid of them, as they keep coming back! -
Makes the whole internet much more usable.
To my eye, those pages aren't any different than this site: Information Regarding Web Browsers - except the language barrier. -
Was curious if I ran SFC /SCANNOW again after deleting the shortcuts what would happen... came right back ha:
My other MSI laptop doesn't do this, trying to determine if I need to reinstall Windows or if it's just some weird quirk with my MSI supplied install image and will come back? Or, could this still be virus related?
I ran a full system scan overnight (took a bit over 14 hours) but nothing came back as a problem.

You don't need to reinstall Windows, sounds like as bloatware programs, just look for unwanted programs or any that you do not know, as sometimes bloatware programs gets installed while installing one that we need.
1-Try look in the installed programs in control panel, if you see anythings that might relate to these programs, uninstall them.
2- Also download and run Adwcleaner (need to restart the windows) AdwCleaner Download
3- You might need to look at your startup programs and see if there is anything unusual Autoruns for Windows
hope it helps -
I used sfc /scannow once. Could never log back into windows afterward xD

Thanks everybody, I'll delete the shortcuts and roll on with life

BTW, the actual answer is that this is normal. When you install extra language files through windows update, you can get those folders on the desktop. Scannow put them there probably in an attempt to repair windows. Since that is a part of windows, that is why they were put there.
