Hi, im planning on buying a new laptop with SLI 7950 GTXs, with Vista 64-bit as I heard that currently SLI is compatible with Vista. However, i read yesterday that SLI in Vista is barely better than a single 7950! I just want to know whether they have improved the drivers and make more use of the 2nd graphic card in Vista 64-bit compared to windows XP. Thanks

Right now I would suggest holding off on your purchase if you really want Vista 64-bit and SLI. We support a lot of Sager notebooks, and right now Sager and Clevo only have a beta driver available for SLI in Vista 64. Considering Clevo were really among the first to even put out SLI notebooks, they have a vested interest in getting functional drivers, but it's taking time. Beta drivers are unstable at best, which is why you're hearing so much about the cards barely being bettery than a single 7950.

Keep a close eye on your preferred reseller's driver page to see when their Vista 64 SLI drivers quit being labeled as "Beta." Once you see them out of beta, I'd still fire off an e-mail or phone call to the company itself to make sure SLI is working well in Vista 64. Vista is, unfortunately, still in that caveat emptor stage of development, so make your decision once you have all the chips stacked in your favor.

As long as it takes to code and test them?

Seems simple common logic is rarer than seeing a purple elephant tight roping its way across the Philadelphia skyline.
