    So I was impatient and rather than waiting for my copy of Vista to update to SP1 on its own I downloaded the stand-alone and installed it myself. And now I seem to have an expensive paperweight on my hands. My questions is, how can I fix it?

    Why the double post? Looking over that thread, it seemed that people were providing answers.

    To me, the following text stands out:

    The bottom line is that you most likely had a driver that was incompatible with SP1 (cause for the delay in WU method). In any case, you'll probably have to reformat one way or another. Will the Windows disc even let you get to a command prompt?
