You heard me. If you have Vista x64, check your Windows Update. No registry hack required.
I just finished installing it. It only took about an hour to download and install for me. No noticeable improvements yet.

I don't have it yet, but Engadget is confirming this report
Edit: It is now showing up under Windows Update for me, but I can't install it until this evening because I'm in class and want to make a backup first. -
Microsoft realized many people got it from either torrent sites or using hacks...so they decided to publicly release it (finally).
-
Can anyone confirm the build?
-
No, but I can say that it's the same build as the one released in January (through the hack).
-
And 32bit for the mainstream comes when?
-
-
32bit is evil.
-
-
-
Because it is. 32 bit is the second millennium, while x64 is the future. We are in transition...and I hate it.
-
-
I'm always there (been since a few years ago) and I am for waiting people to catch up.
-
I'd love to move to vista x64 right now(as I have all the drivers I need) but my main problem is RMclock doesn't work under vista 64.
-
My problem with the 64bit is that there are 2 program directories and while you need 32bit for older programs, all the default Vista programs are doubled and 64bit wastes quite a bit of HDD space.
-
The programs are doubled because there are 32bit and 64bit versions of the programs.
-
-
Is there a directdownload link yet? Or can I just get the RTM one through torrents?
-
I can confirm, that it works. I'm using RMClock now for a couple of weeks on my x64 Vista with this solution. -
RMclock are taking their damn time and will probably be charging $9.99 for a 64bit licence since they payed for the digitally signed drivers needed for x64 -
-
Did you specifically open up Windows Update and click Check for Updates?
-
-
then xp x64 should get sp3 by now
-
According the the extensive SP1 review:
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_sp1.asp
-
Why does MS want to wait till 18th March to release the 32 bit SP1 through the download center?
-
-
I already installed SP1
I connects way quicker now to my network and its much more stable than ever
tan!!!!!!!!! -
i dont think it is available normally yet. the last update i got for vista x64 was defender definition on 2/21.
-
I installed SP1 using standalone DVD. I got the DVD image from Vista 64 forum.
-
For some reason I don't see it anymore, it looks like it may have gotten pulled. The only update I saw on my last few checks was a Windows Defender definition update. Bah. Laaame.
-
Here's some info that it was a mistake and has now been pulled: http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=1364 -
Yeah, I can not confirm it, but I can say it is the same build. Microsoft made that last refresh (which was available through the hack) the final build, the RTM. Simple as that.
-
Just tried it. Doesn't work.
So we still have to use the workaround... -
There is a x64 RMClock file somewhere...
-
I have vista ultimate x64. SP1 doesn't show up for me!
-
-
It will still not be updated.
-
Apparently the workaround to get rmclock to work in vista x64 is to use a third party program. Hmm so I have to use one third party program(which windows defender identifies as malware) to get another third party program(rmclock) to work, IMO that sounds like a lot of unnecessary effort. -
Blame the developers.
-
i get emails from Microsoft and the latest you should all see.
Microsoft is warning Windows Vista users that a forthcoming service pack for the operating system may stop some third-party programs working.
The software giant has released a list of programs that may be broken by the SP1 update for Vista.
Most of the software hit by the upgrade are security programs that prevent Windows users falling prey to viruses, trojans and booby-trapped webpages.
The Windows Vista update will be released to the public in mid-March.
Update loop
Service Packs are among the biggest updates Microsoft issues for its various operating systems. The software firm said SP1 makes Vista more secure and reliable and introduces some new features.
The list of programs affected by SP1 is divided into three. Some will be blocked by the update, some will not run and others will lose some of their functions.
PROGRAMS HIT BY SP1
BitDefender AV
Fujitsu Shock Sensor
Jiangmin KV Antivirus 10
Jiangmin KV Antivirus 2008
Trend Micro Internet Security
Zone Alarm Security Suite
Iron Speed Designer
Xheo Licensing
Free Allegiance
NYT Reader
Rising Personal Firewall
Novell ZCM Agent
Of the 12 programs mentioned, six block viruses or keep an eye on the places someone visits online.
Microsoft warned that its list was not "comprehensive" and asked people to get in touch with the maker of any affected software to fix problems.
Although the update will become widely available in March, Microsoft is releasing it to business customers in February.
Microsoft has also been forced to withdraw an update to Vista that was required before Service Pack 1 could be applied.
Writing on the Windows Vista blog, Nick White, Microsoft product manager, said the company had withdrawn the preparatory update while it investigated.
Isolated reports suggest that some machines on which the preliminary update has been applied go into an update loop.
He wrote: "We are working to identify possible solutions and will make the update available again shortly after we address the issue." -
Yeah, they need to update the program that helps install the update.
-
Here's the original KB article about SP1 incompatible softwares.
Almost all listed softwares have newer versions that can run on Vista SP1. -
I said something else
.
-
I'll check back daily -
1 month left till i can finally switch to 64bit. Hopefully RMclock gets their driver signed by then.
Currently my windows update is completely broken. Everytime i try to update it just Fails and gives me an error code. Even Defender cant update. Im not really gonna bother trying to fix this and just wait it out till x64. -
I reinstalled this morning and I'm not getting it. I tried the reg hack, I got one of the updates but I'm missing
(KB937287)
EDIT: I tried a standalone and it said "This update does not apply to your system" =/
EDIT2: KB937287 is faulty, they removed it =/
EDIT3: SP1 showed this mroning with 121MB to download. -
I have RMClock running in SP1. I use ATSIV.exe to load the drivers, Windows UAC is off. Defender doesn't give me any guff. All is well.
-
I have searched the forums and some posts say it is confirmed and i saw a few saying the SP1 isn't the real RTM through the registry hack, i have installed the 6.0.6001.18000, and the File is KB936330.
Sorry if this has been asked so many times.
Just like to know if i installed the right SP before i uninstall it. -
