I knew srs was impressive but the audio sandbox blew me away. Playing the cod4 demo and crysis was a much more immersive experience. The full surround sound effect was great. I thought my logitech z-2300s sounded great before but now they sound phenomenal. The sounds are much cleaner and cleared and overall effects are just better.

The 3d effect is quite impressive and the trubass makes my bass have more of a clearer punch instead of being slightly muddled.

Any idea on how long the free download last, or the difference from the paid?

Yep, SRS Audio Sandbox is great and the sound is so much better with everything. Listening to music is so much better. This sounds like advertisement but I spent the $20 and it simply enhances the audio experience so much.

I cannot test myself atm: Can anyone confirm if SRS Audio Sandbox still works if you use SPDIF optical out in a laptop (e.g. Asus laptop with HD audio codec from realtek)

    Yeah mine was a realtek.

All it does is once it installs it creates a new speaker under playback devices and you set that under default. Its an easy install and easy to uninstall and doesn't interefer with realtek.

Also make sure to turn up the advanced settings alot higher to get the full effect.

@ The Forerunner: Does it work with SPDIF out?
Using the effects within the Realtek Audio Manager does not work with SRS Audio Sandbox. At least that is the case for me... what about you?

    Yeah spdif is working fine.

The effects won't work because essentially the realtek is running under a different playback device and protocol which aren't related. Thus you can't use the effects or equalizers simulataneously.

wow this thing is pretty awesome
didn't notice that Cymbals were used in music this often...

alot of bass and sound that just makes things so much better is obtained with it. time to test it with some games!

edit: hm..got some lag as well as big audio lag in crysis :/ is the registered version alot better in quality of sound?

This is pretty much the same thing as the Toshiba Virtual sound app.

    That's been made free.

For the people that want to try it just google it.

Tried it, but not that impressive. Slightly better than standard output , but nowhere close to what you can get with some of the DSP plug-ins and WinAMP (i.e Jammix Enhancer for Winamp).

From what I remember Toshiba Virtual sound made a bigger difference in my previous notebook (unfortunately it doesn't work with M1210's Sigmatel card).

^ Make sure to turn up the effects all the way. Don;t use their presets which don't do much. Use the advaned settings and crank them all up except maybe trubass.

best 20$ i've spent on a laptop LLOOLL The function of adjusting the "speaker size" is what i allways needed. You can say that alot of media players does that...ok.. does games too ??
    finally i have some bass..
just for notice, on the faq page you have the 64bit vista version ! just great !!

Yes, I tried all the advanced controls, but none of them worked up to my expectations. Actually I was looking for deeper bass, which doesn’t seem to be a strong point of SRS sandbox (I tested this with 2 sets of above-average/high quality Creative and Philips headphones).

Yes, having the ability to enhance your sound across the board is an advantage, but since I’m not a heavy gamer it doesn’t matter to me much. Besides, as I said before if Toshiba Virtual sound works with your notebook, that’s a better alternative to this (TVS is capable of all the things of SRS Sandbox, but it sounds better and FREE).
*Moded TVS works with non Toshiba notebooks, but some cards are not supported.

^ Turn up the level of your default speaker level (not the srs one) and the power of the sandbox of course.
