I have an asus s96j with the synaptic touchpad drivers. Does anyone else's synaptic phone home a lot?

I am using firefox. Every once in awhile, my firewall (comodo) says that synaptic is trying to access the internet. If i decline/reject this action, my browser stops working. Does anyone else notice synaptic phoning home a lot? How does a touchpad driver have anything to do with my browser being able to access the internet?

That is strange. I use Comodo as well, on an HP, and my synaptic touchpad driver has never called home before, as far as I know.

    Maybe it's homeless?

It probably is not spyware, unless you have incessant pop-ups and severe slow down. It likely is Synaptic just checking for updates to the driver. I wouldn't worry. The browser not working when you do not allow it is just a quirk of the way the firewall blocks synaptic. This is why I say people should not use a software firewall. They can cause alot of paranoia and stress over nothing, and throw in some compatability issues while they are at it.
