My laptop has an integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN. I am thinking about starting using it to connect to the Internet via WiFi. I have heard many stories about people being not careful while connecting to somebody else's WiFi, and I don't want to be one of them. Could somebody please tell me what I need to be safe? Any additional software to install? Any particular system configuration? Or maybe there is some web page that gives some safety advice to newbies?

Most wireless routers actually have in built firewall - (u can block or only allow specific MAC addresses)
