I am having a very odd problem with my PC.
System specifications are as follows:
Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83ghz
2gb DDR2 667mhz Dual Channel
80gb 5,400rpm HDD
Windows XP Home SP2
One of my hobbies is photography and I often shoot images in the RAW format for post processing on my PC. What I want to do is to load up the RAW file in a program (s7RAW, RAW Therapee, etc...) do my post processing and output the file as a .tif. But whenever I try to save a tif file in any program, the program crashes and/or windows explorer crashes.
I am totally lost on the matter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I doubt I can help, but I've got a couple questions anyways. Have those programs on that computer with that camera's files ever worked before? Do other file formats save successfully?
Here's hoping it's something stupid, like a full hard drive -
If you open a small JPG and save it as a TIF, does the computer crash, or is it only when you are converting RAW to TIF? Have you checked your temp directories and/or cleaned them out? Have you checked your registry for errors?
Massively large images consume vast resources. It could be that the processing/saving is simply using up all resources. If you have Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro/etc, are you able to save the files in the program's default filetype? -
and how about logs? If explorer is crashing, it might be worth looking at the eventlogs in control panel -> administrative tools -> event viewer, for hints.

Every other format saves fine but not tiff, I forgot to mention that the tiff files that do not save we usually pretty large (over 10mb).
-
So, can you save small tiffs? Have you tried any of my suggestions?

Ok, this came up when I tried to open a folder with some converted tiffs inside... the second I click on the folder to get to the files it crashes.
The error is because of the gdiplus.dll -
What's the exact error message?
Saving .tif Files Crashes Program or Explorer.exe
