    All the Sony notebooks actually come with a "VAIO Long Battery Life Wallpaper" that is all white with a light grey logo in the center. That one, and a variation with added color can be found here. It seems Sony actually uses this wallpaper during their JEITA battery life testing, along with several other power saving tweaks - as outlined here.

    So yeah, 4% power saving from the LCD probably isn't much, but it all adds up I guess.

    i diddnt read this thread (all he pages)
    but back when google had a black theme, they said on modern LCD screens, displaying black took as much power as any other color
