I have been struggling with finding a way to get the hot buttons to work in WinXP on my A215 which was originally supplied with Vista installed. I wanted this particularly in order to adjust screen brightness and extend the battery life.

I was finally able to get the right utilities installed in the right order and it all works just fine now in Win XP.

The utilities for the A200-EZ2204X work just fine on the A215 and you can get the files here:

You will want to download the following and install in this order:

    1) Toshiba ACPI Common Modules for Windows XP(v1.00.04; 10-03-2007; 4.89M)

    2) Toshiba Power Saver Utility for Windows XP/2000(v7.03.07.I; 10-04-2005; 7.0M)

    3) Toshiba Hotkey Utility for Windows XP(v1.00.01; 10-03-2007; 3.78M)

If you cannot find the files I can upload them.

Hope this helps someone in the same boat as me - I have been searching for a solution to this literally for months.

Any reason why you don't take the simpler path of upgrading from Vista to Win 7?

Primarily due to familiarity with XP, although I certainly would consider Win7 if there was some special super deal to be had on upgrading from Vista.
