When ever I open the lid of my computer the system wakes from stand by. It goes to that screen where you type your password in. At that point the screen goes black for a second and comes back on. (also makes a little "bump" sound when the screen goes black.)

I have come to the conclusion that this is Vista's external display detection. Am I able to disable the display detection? I followed the guidelines in the tweaks thread about disabling TTM but that has not fixed the problem. I also made sure I have all the correct display drivers.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Well instead of closing the lid to put the system to sleep and opening the lid to wake it up, I changed it a bit. Set the system to do nothing when the lid opens and closes. I put it to sleep by pressing the little sleep button and waking it by pressing the power button. Screen doesn't flicker that way. Definitely has something to do with the lid opening and closing causing vista to search for a different monitor.
