I have an Alienware m17x r3 running Windows 8 (sadly) and for the longest time now, it wasn't going to sleep when I closed the lid, despite the power settings saying that it should. With some research, I figured out that it had to do with the "when sharing media" setting, not letting it go to sleep, so I changed that and voila, it worked!

My problem now is, once it goes to sleep, when I try to come back to my laptop to use it, I open the lid, the lights on my keyboard turn on, the fans start up, everything works, except the screen stays black. I've tried pressing keys, the mouse, the power button. Nothing works. I end up having to hard restart with the power button every time. This is really frustrating, because what this means is, I can't let the computer go to sleep.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Greg
