I have my laptop setup to turn off the display after 10mins. then go into a blank screen saver at 11mins. to set a password on wakeup. When I try to wake up my comp. it will not. The screen stays blank, no logon screen and I have to reboot. HELP!??!

What laptop do you own? What operating system do you run? Did you reinstall the operating system? If so, did you install all of the required drivers and system software?

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? I need to have my computer lock automatically after 5-10 mins. of idle.

Has your laptop always done this? Do you have the latest drivers from Gateway?

i dont know if it has always done it. i had my screen replaced under warranty (extended accidental plan) and since then i know it has. when i open the screen after shutting it within few minutes it will resize to 1028x764 from its natural 1280x800. but i dont think its related. I have it setup to turn off the screen after 10mins and it does that fine. wakes up without freezing. it will only lockup if used in conjunction with ss and screen off. latest drivers installed.

Have you gone into the device manager and removed the display, then rebooted, to allow Windows to rediscover the display?

If this happened after the screen was replaced, have you contacted Gateway about it?

it isn't covered by gateway as the repair was not done through them. i will try to delete the display and let vista rediscover it.

Ok - have you contacted whoever did the replacement?
