    Scroller in touchpad not working.

    i have a Compaq laptop C783tu . the scroller in my notepad is not working . do i have to install a software. to fix this problem . If yes, where do i get the software. can u guys reply me fast.. i am facing a huger problem with this.i checked in the Compaq site . the software is not available.

    What OS do you have? by looking at the compaq site and you saying the driver isn't available, XP?

    I suppose you could try uninstalling the driver from device manager, restart and it should detect new hardware, might work then.

    If you are using XP, a quick google found this

    Did it work before? Are you using an external mouse?

    Use the link provided by Carrot Muncher and reinstall the synaptic touch pad driver and see. Or use a restore point, if it works before.

    I remember this happening with my Toshiba. I couldn't scroll down at all left or right up to down it just wouldn't work. I tapped the touch pad a few times and it fixed itself. Then again, this all happend in under 10 seconds so I can't recall much.

    Have you checked to see if there's a configuration utility in which the scrolling function of the touchpad?
