Ok so i install sp1 boot my computer up and first i notice when i click on the start menu theres a shortage of space on the right. I look and search is missing. So i reboot a couple times and then search on the net and find out that it has been removed. Now does anyone have an idea to get it back?

Click the desktop and press the F3 key.
If that's not good enough, right click "Search results" in the location bar and "copy location" and paste a shortcut to it on your desktop, or drag the shortcut into the start menu.
But it's still not in quite the same place as before, so if you need that... there are some hacks... I think WinBubble (tweaking app) can do it, there's a thread about it around here, check it out.

I believe MS took out this feature requested by Google. They claimed it was unfair, and when a user installed Google Desktop Search, Vista's native search interfered with Google's.

I think F stands for "find"
in most programs, you press control-F to get the search option. ;)

How is this missing search option different from the search box in the bottom of the start menu?

You can make a more in depth, more defined search.

It's still there. Start entering in the search box and go to the search everywhere option. This is new in SP1.

It used to be like in the picture below which I'm sure is the same thing. So it's not new to SP1.

    "See all results"

    under SP1 is now

    "Search everywhere"

Not sure if there is any functional difference.

I, too, had the same problem which caused me a lot of grief until I saw how many people had the same problem. I had no idea what was wrong. I saw some complicated help scenarios, but they were a bit too complicated for me so I contacted Dell.
They sent me the attached search.zip file. Hopefully, it is attached to this email; otherwise, contact Dell & get it from them directly.
This worked for my Dell Inspiron. :)
