Is there a way I can protect my flash drive's data from others in case it gets lost? I've heard of password protection - is this the most secure way? What is/are the most recommended program(s)?
Thanks in advance!

TrueCrypt is a very good software and is free:

Thanks, I read about it on google but didn't know if it was the best option. When I install it, I have the option to "Disable Windows paging file". Should I leave this ticked or should I untick it?

For most people, leaving the pagefile enabled should be fine. You only want to disable the pagefile if you're working with extreme sensitive data. And in your case of worrying the USB flashdrive being lost, keeping pagefile enabled won't matter to you. When Windows pagefile is enabled, it just means that TrueCrypt might write some data onto your HDD as cache while working with your encrypted volume. -

If you want to go ultra secure you could also order a flashdrive with hardware encryption and security. One I've seen offered by thinkgeek.com will self-destruct after enough bad password attempts.

I have had 2 flash drivers with built in software to encript your data. Its pretty common these days.
The first one was by far the best but I forget what it was...
