Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew which update is causing my internet explorer to not work after I updated my notebook a few days ago. I've just uninstalled all of them and just disabled the updates for now. But I was hoping that I could still update vista without installing the one causing the problem

    The updates were:

Security Update for Windows Vista (KB953733)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB952004)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB956572)

    Thanks any help is appreciated.

User Firefox. It's way better in many different ways. Actually, pretty much anything but IE. And who knows? Maybe as you keep installing updates IE would work again... but it really shouldn't matter. :p

    Hi...

I have KB952004 and KB956572. Can't seem to find the other one. But with the other two installed, I seem to have no problems with IE8. It works very well at least as of now.

Now, the question is why can't I find the last Security Update. When I ask Vista to check for updates, it says that the machine is fully updated except for one Optional Update that has to do with HP printers.

Thanks. I tired to download and install from the link that you provided. I got a message saying that this is not for your system!!!!

Quite strange isn't it considering that I am running Vista HP SP1...!!!

Also, I wonder why some updates may not download and install with Windows Update - I have set Win Update to notify me of available updates and to install only on my specific instruction. I would have thought that the whole reason for automating the Win Updates system was to help one avoid going to the MS site to download and install individual updates.

    Cheers!

It is possible that your system does not belong (or need) to the appropriate update, as explained here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=953733

HP, Sony and a few other brands, submit their repackaged SP1 to Microsoft for update, thus bypassing the standard package all together. I would not concern yourself with some updates that are not able to be installed on your system.
