First off, I swear I do not work for Sequoia View, or whoever made it.
But I thought of it tonight while playing with my new laptop, and while shopping for external drives I am trying to figure out just how much space is really reasonable. And for the life of me I have no idea where the roughly 450gb of space I am using on my desktop is. So... I popped up an old favorite of mine, Sequoia View!
It is sort of a visual representation of your hard drive space. See below, each cube is a different file, organized by folders. It is all to scale of course, bigger the square, bigger the file/folder.
I really do find it invaluable, and just thought I would share. I apologize in advance if one of two things... 1) Everyone here already knew about this, or something better. 2) I am breaking some sort of rule!
Here is the download link, I had it on my old backup drive, so I cannot vouch for the download link, but C-Net has never done me wrong before! c-net Sequoia View link

You might also want to look at WinDirStat. It combines the graphical view with a tree view.

My GB's have mostly been eaten by games, music collection, and some movies. In that order. The rest is just peanuts.
