Hi all, I have a linksys router tbase100 and a gigabit ethernet NIC on my laptop with a Lacie 1tb ethernet NAS with a GIG connection. When i'm trying to transfer files i get a MAXIMUM of of 5mb per second and cannot get above that. I am wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this with windows Vista 32 Bit.

    thanks all

Lots of people have experienced it. Are you completely updated? Have you checked Google before posting?

Windows networking in general tends to suck for whatever reason. On the same machine, same connection I'll get 1-2Mbps faster transfers running Linux than I will running Windows XP.

I, too, have the same issue in Vista x64. I just think that it's a Windows thing, like Pitabread has stated (by the way, that's a cool name :D ).

I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit on my HP Pavillion laptop and I have the same problem. Worse, this is recent, because it used to transfer files from my laptop to a flash drive very quickly -- much faster even than my XP desktop transfers to a flash drive. But now, for some reason it has really slooooooowed down. Can't imagine why, because I haven't made any changes to the system lately. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's possible that disk I/O to the external drive has been given a lower order of priority (as most disk I/O is given lower priority in _Vista) instead of being given standard user-requested priority, which would mean that the OS is deferring disk read/writes to other processes that demand time on the processor and/or FSB.
