Hi, I somehow can't set any programs (besides IE and FF) to handle ftp://. How can I tell windows to always open "ftp://" with WinSCP ?

Default Programs -> Files & Protocols -> only IE and FF available to chose from :/

    Thanks

I haven't used it in a while but I could swear there was options to associate WinSCP with ftp://, sftp:// and scp:// addresses within the utility's settings - I think it was listed under an option called Integration (within Settings) but that's completely off the top of my head, as it was the portable version of the utility I had used in the past (working off of a USB flash memory stick) which maybe different from the full installed client.

I hope it's of some help and it might point you in the right direction.

Oh b*gger...if you go into File Types on your computer does it have any entries listed for FTP at all?

EDIT: Just a sudden thought - how about using FileTypesMan from NirSoft, to edit the appropriate FTP file type within your Windows OS???

FileTypesMan - Alternative to 'File Types' manager of Windows

Nope, seems like it can only change the icon of a file type? Couldn't find any option to change the program to open the extension with?

and File Types in Windows only lets me choose IE or Firefox

That's odd - I've download the x64 FileTypesMan utility and it's allowing me to change the associated applications for file types on my systems running with Windows Vista Business & Windows 7 Professional.

What OS are you running along with is it x86 or x64? :)

Trust but verify I say! ;) Mmm, that's not good as on my systems I'm able to change it from an association with Internet Explorer to WinSCP when I tried it today - the WinSCP client was the full client install. :(

Do you have access to another computer system to see if you get the same results with it as well? Just thinking perhaps you have something specific on your system that's blocking the change...that's off the top of my head.
