Hi,
A few months ago I bought an Asus laptop for my wife and was able to configure Vista so the battery would only charge once the level fell below 95%. Recently my 5 year old laptop broke and I got a Samsung. I've noticed my Samsung will charge everytime the battery is under 100%. I can't seem to find how I configured the Asus to charge at a certain level. Can anyone help me and tell me how to set this in Vista?
Thanks

Does it really charge every time it's under 100%? That's very very odd - most laptops have a tolerance so it doesn't start charging until it's about 95%
The place where such a setting is normally kept is in the BIOS. If it's not in there then I don't know where it will be. It's not something that Windows controls, it wouldn't matter if you had Vista or Mint installed, it would still act the same way. -
I thought it was something apart from Vista too. I looked in the BIOS and there isnt anything. I double checked and it does charge if it goes 100%.

If it's not there then you are stuck with what the manufacturer set it to then I think.
I'm still amazed that it starts charging when it drops to 99%. Mine continues to say on AC power until it hits 95% when it will say on AC power charging. -
One of those things I guess, both mine (an Acer 4530 and a Gateway M-6864FX) also charge when 99% or lower.
Too bad though, Wouldn't it be great to have the ability to set the charge threshold to whatever you wanted? I'd go with 40% or lower, as I don't move around unplugged for long, and the lower charge would extend my battery life, as well as the more frequent cycling.
Or I could just get one of those Acer Timelines.. I guy in one of the posts got nine hours with WiFi on using one (Aero disabled). Wish I had more cash.. -
What do you mean by more frequent cycling?
