    Hi,

I was editing the settings of the Vista Balanced Power Plan to have the CPU run at Min=100 and Max=100 while plugged in, and I was wondering what disadvantages I get while running this setting. And do I get a lower CPU life (or stability) problems? thanx

It should not decrease CPU life because they are tested to run at 100% for very long periods of time stably, although why would you want to run your CPU at 100%? All it will do is make your computer hotter and that could affect its lifetime by a small amount.

yes, what USAPatriot said. even though the processer may be able to take the heat, your hard drive will not. too much heat could damage (and cause it to not be able to hold as much data) or even kill your hard drive completely

The CPU doesnt get hot even if it is running on 100% in terms of frequency unless it is being stressed. Therefore there is no risk for setting it at 100% especially on a desktop replacement.

OK... I dont want any risk or losing any data here, so I think will go back to Min=5% and Max=100% (defaults)

    thanx for the info
