Hi, I have windows xp and vista on two partitions. I have several applications that I would like to share between the two, is there a way to use one app with both of the operating systems without installing it on each partition?

Depends on the app. If the program depends on registry settings, it could be a little dodgy. But try it and see... no other way to know for sure ;)

I have seen threads where folks talked about sharing a common directory for an application while actually installing it on both operating systems. This way each OS got the registry settings needed, but the application directory only appears once on the computer. This is a little bit risky, especially if there are any settings stored in the application directory that depended on registry settings. But if you can afford to play around with this it might be worth trying. I have not tried it myself, but can see where it COULD work and also where it COULD be a problem. If you do try this, report back and let us know how you made out.
