Hello,
There's a key in my registry that appears to be an error:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU
The fact that it's located in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ makes me think it doesn't actually belong.
I deleted it and nothing bad happened, but a few minutes later I caved and reimported it. It contains no data. Is it safe to remove?
Thanks,
Peter

I don't understand why there is a HKEY_CURRENT_USER in HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU is find's history -
Right, neither do I. Oddly enough, I don't have the correct key you speak of. Should I move this one?
-
I don't have it too...
Anyway it's just history like I said -
But is safe to delete this one?
-
I would say yes because we don't even have the usual one
-
Just a question: are you exploring your entire registry manually?
-
Nah, I was trying to remove a file association.
-
You can remove file associations in Explorer by going to (in the menu bar): Tools > Folder Options > File Types
While this key probably is an error, a handful of extra keys floating around won't really affect anything... so go ahead and remove this... and then quit meddling with your registry before you break something!
Should I delete this registry key?
