You can't upgrade to 64bit from 32bit mate ... you need install a fresh copy of Vista altogether also your 32bit valid license will work for the same 64bit version ... for ex : I you have vista home premium (32bit) then you could use the same genuine key to active 64bit version of Vista home premium .. you can get the 64 bit download link in the forum itself.

ONE MORE QUESTION PEOPLE, I'm running 32 bit VISTA Home Premium, I want to upgrade to 64 bit - is it free? If so, where can I get it? Can I install it and use my serial number from 32 bit cd?

    thanks!

Generally, yes, you should go for 64-bit... but...
If you have existing hardware you wish to use with it, check if there are 64-bit drivers for it.

Yes. There's a trend now that new systems are coming out with the 64bit version with max memories (4gb on laptops) instead of the 32bit teaser systems and 3gb memory.

What computer model are you buying? Make sure they have all the drivers. I assume they do since they offered the upgrade. Another thing you should check is the software you will be using, some software still don't work well in 64-bit environment.

If you're not using 4 GB or more RAM, maybe you should consider sticking with 32-bit for now, since you won't have any compatibility problem. You can always change it to 64-bit later in the future. Under 4 GB of RAM, there isn't really any advantage by using 64-bit version for most people.

    Nice! :)

I checked the HP site, yeah HP wouldn't offer it if they didn't have the proper drivers, so that's one less thing to worry about. Now the only thing you need to check are the software you will be using. :)
