Basically I'm wondering if the upgrade to 64bit vista is free, should I get it?
(as apposed to 32bit)

You can't upgrade to 64bit from 32bit mate ... you need install a fresh copy of Vista altogether also your 32bit valid license will work for the same 64bit version ... for ex : I you have vista home premium (32bit) then you could use the same genuine key to active 64bit version of Vista home premium .. you can get the 64 bit download link in the forum itself.

lol sorry I didn't make it clear >.<
I'm about to buy a computer and I have the option of getting 32 or 64 and they are the same price -
ONE MORE QUESTION PEOPLE, I'm running 32 bit VISTA Home Premium, I want to upgrade to 64 bit - is it free? If so, where can I get it? Can I install it and use my serial number from 32 bit cd?
thanks! -
If you have existing hardware you wish to use with it, check if there are 64-bit drivers for it. -
Yes , its free and you can use 32bit key for same type of OS -
Yes. There's a trend now that new systems are coming out with the 64bit version with max memories (4gb on laptops) instead of the 32bit teaser systems and 3gb memory.

If you're not using 4 GB or more RAM, maybe you should consider sticking with 32-bit for now, since you won't have any compatibility problem. You can always change it to 64-bit later in the future. Under 4 GB of RAM, there isn't really any advantage by using 64-bit version for most people. -
i am holding back 64 bit... certain software does not work, even the driver is all available. I was planning to dual boot, but my attemps failed

I checked the HP site, yeah HP wouldn't offer it if they didn't have the proper drivers, so that's one less thing to worry about. Now the only thing you need to check are the software you will be using.
Should I get Vista 64bit if it's free?
