Since I have bought this new laptop with Win7 Home Premium I have been facing some problems with it like BSOD, and some programs stopped working. I was wondering that maybe an upgrade to a different Windows version will help me to get a more stable performance.
I have looked on Microsofts homepage to learn more about the differences between Windows systems but I can't see differences I would obain by upgrading, rather than running XP programs, making a stable connections between networks, and securing data on tha pc.

So my question is to those who have experienced by switching a Home Premium with Professional or even Ultimate, is it worth upgrading and what do I get out of it as a privat user?

    Thanks in advance

Changing the OS version doesn't help. Finding the cause for BSODs and fixing that will help instead.

If you do the OS change by format/reinstall and it helps, then you would have had same results by just reinstalling original version.

^^ What KLF said. An upgraded version isn't going to improve anything. A reinstall could be what's needed, but that would be hard to be positive on just from what you described. But absolutely don't upgrade a Win 7 "version" just to try to get enhanced stability.

The benefits of Pro over Home is mainly Remote Desktop and some other stuff like EFS, etc. It won't help with BSODs. Check your hardware for any incompatibilities etc. since they usually are the cause of BSODs.

thanks for the replies. I have actually reinstalled Win7, but I am facing other problems that causes the BSOD. Thats why I wanted to hear your opinions that it might help changing the Windows to other versions.
I have updated the drivers for the hardwares but I still get once in a while BSOD. I find it very annoying that it can not be solved.

why dont you tell us what bsod screens your getting.... if you keep getting them then obviously its hardware related...windows with a few extra features will not solve bsods

The BSODs I face, gives an error of System-Service-Exception 0x0000003B. As I have searched Google is about hardwares, I have updated all my drivers but it still comes up everytime I want to clean Internetfiles, either from Ccleaner or through Tools in Internet options.
I have experienced that it collects data about 0,5 to 1 Gb in a short time which I find it very unsual, and the only way I can delte these files is by going in the safe mode and clean the files. If I try to delete these file from the normal mode which I use daily it gives BSOD.
The laptop is almost 3 months old and there aren't much programs on it that can give problems. Previously I had other BSODs problems where some of my programs didn't work at all, so I made a fresh install of Windows and that helped the problem, and now I am facing this problem. Thats why I find it annoying that some simple operations are giving me these problems, and thought of upgrading the Windows will help solving these problems.

I have added a picture of the files I try to delte through Ccleaner to show you what type of files are giving problem.

changing to a different version of win 7 isnt going to sort the problem if a reinstall of the OS you already have hasnt sorted it.
as all version of win 7 arent that different.
