This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Showing Notification Area Icons with Vista

    Just installed Vista. Everything went fine except for one really annoying thing: I cannot get the volume, wireless, and battery icon to show up in the notification area. The option to show it (right clicking the taskbar/properties/notification tab) is greyed out, so I cannot select the icons. The only thing I can show is the clock.

    Did you try it with an Administrator account or with UAC turned off?

    Yes I did. Still cannot show the icons in the notification area.
