I just reformatted my HP nx9420 Laptop using Windows XP sp2.

The machine will not shutdown/restart while docked anymore. It looks like it's going to, but after the Windows is shutting down message disappears, the machine just hangs at the Blue XP background image.

When the machine is undocked it shutdown/restarts fine.

Any ideas? I talked with HP tech support and they are trying to tell me I need the unit serviced, however it worked fine before, and I have a hard time believeing this is a harware failure issue.

Do you have an iPod or similar device plugged into the dock during the restart?
