When I run Vista I'm unable to shut down my notebook...

it just stays on the shutting down page with the spinning ring.

and when I put my notebook to sleep it goes to sleep fine, but when I press a key to wake it up it just restarts itself...

    any ideas?

One thing that I found when this happened to me was that I was using one of the Nvidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com that failed to integrate the sleep and shutdown options.

I rolled back the video driver and everything worked fine. It seems that occasionally whoever writes the code forgets. It is pretty rare, though.

This may or may not be your problem! :D
