I don't know how and if these are connected - and I don't get error messages.

Since going to Scotland I started stitching large panoramas (largest is 120MP)

Everything worked fine, I came home and found that doing the same, a couple of times (2 or 3 times) my USB ports "died" - I needed to restart to get them going.
One had a USB Flash drive, the other 3 external HDDs on two USB Hubs and an X-Fi go.

X-Fi go worked directly in the laptop, an the laptop stopped doing this now.

    What happended?

    Next issue:
Since comming home, I unplug the USB stuff and try to shutdown and my laptop hangs doing so after having used photoshop.
Before it worked fine without the USB stuff (except the X-Fi) whil eon holiday.

    Are these connected?
I can shut down fine without photoshop (tried it) - don't know about "without heavy duty stitching"...

I suspect nobody will be able to offer conclusive help unless he or she has come across it him/herself, but input would be apreciated.

Since the laptop hangs after using Photoshop, have you checked Adobe support for some tips?

    cheers ...

My take is that Photoshop Elements 6 has a bug somewhere, even though when you close it, but some spawned processes are still active somewhere in memory. Browse Adobe support and send them a mail.

    cheers ...

Couldn't find something on Adobe support - I'll see again in a few seconds - on a large panorama again, but I may do it.
Problem is - there are no error logs... and that's a problem...

Something just dawned on me. Were you manupilating with lots of thumbnails when using the app? If yes, how about expanding the icon cache size?

    cheers ...

Hmm - there were quite a few thumbnails - say 12max - how can I expand the icon cache size?

This would involve a registry entry modification.

Search the net for it, as I personally don't like to tell anyone how to, in forums. Just make sure that you backup your registry first.

And yes, it is simple to do. I expanded mine.

    cheers ...

    Just on a side note.
    Do I need it?
I mean - I think its regularly clenaed out anyway...
(Windows Cleanup (the integrated one) and CCLeaner)

It worked fine this time after waitng a little while after closing photoshop...

. No, you don't really need the icon cache size expansion.

. There is a registry tweak that would cause any apps to close immediately. This would solve the issue that you have to wait for a while after Photochop is being closed.

    cheers ...
