I just got a pop-up message that Simple Ad Block only blocks 100 add requests per day and that if I'd like constant ad blocking, I'll need to upgrade. So, I clicked the link and learned that they had gone from a free product to a commercial product. Thinking that was a good idea and that I do agree that it does have some value, I decided to upgrade... at 40% discount...
Then, I saw the retail price. $30 normal and $17 after discount. I admit, I valued it at up to $15 (full price), but think that what they're asking is on the ridiculous side. I've emailed them with my thoughts that going commercial was a good idea, but assigning such a price tag has ensured that I won't purchase the product.
I'm curious to know how other people here value the software and what they're willing to pay for it.

Hmm, I'm not too happy to hear that, I wonder if the old versions will continue to run for free...
On another not, with the do not track feature in IE9, it should be possible to import the adblock plus list and use the browser's functions for adblocking. -
I wasn't able to import the Ad Block Plus list as the option for Advanced Settings isn't there. Heck, the option for InPrivate Browsing in "manage add-ons" isn't there any more.
BUT... I added ALL of the TPL's available in the Tracking Protection feature and I no longer have adds showing. Sweet!!! -
Whats the difference between the free and commercial version?
-
Free version blocks up to 100 ad requests per day.

You might want to reconsider, chuck TRUSTe -> that's a "track me" list...

Thanks for the validation. Chucking it right now. -
I value this at $0 because I would easily just switch to a new browser that has proper adblocking. I also adblock via my router.

well, as i tested ie9 on my html5 compliant page, and it fails to render it properly while firefox and chrome have no problem, there's not much reason to stay with something like ie. they say they follow standards? then why doens't my page work?
anyways, yeah, adblock/adblock plus on firefox/chrome ftw. -

And Opera 11.01 fails miserably on the fonts and has the same issue with size...

Sounds more like a page issue than a browser issue to mebesides, who are some arbitrary people to define standards anyway?

well, ie says it works with the standard. the firefox issue is by now a known one, not a bug. working on the fix. opera works perfectly but has terrible webfont rendering, that's no bug per se.
ie fails on parts of the animation, and can't draw the page till the bottom in the first place (but on the following pages it can).
so no, all browsers work perfectly well, except ie.
and it doesn't matter who defines the standard. fact is, it's a standard, and microsoft said they follow it perfectly well with ie9. which they don't. unlike all other browsers. else my page would work. like it does, on all other browsers. -
Are u guys talking about ad block Plus addon with firefox?
-
And the page size on Firefox & Opera is nonsensical -> the way IE9 loads the first page is far more sensical, what's the point of having a large area of grey? On that note, you might have noticed in the screenshot, Opera does the same as Firefox. -

click on the text on the bottom called "served to you thanks to Windows Home Server"
oh, on ie, that text ISN'T EVEN THERE on page 1. it is on 'music', then, for example.
that animation is the reason for the grey region on the bottom btw. -

Oh, and for some reason IE9 now load the page as Firefox does... -> even though I ran CCleaner... -> opens it "correctly" on first opening it... -

yes, i'm fixing for ie right now
the usual things
writing a webpage, enjoying it everywhere, then fixing for ie
but it got much better, that's at least something. -

I'm just suggesting thinking of other options. As Adblocks of all kinds exist, in other browsers. Which have other advantages, too.
Outside-the-box-thinking, typical for me. My way of helping (or trying to). The rest, though, was offtopic indeed. -
Thanks for clarifying.
Seems that the tracking protection is doing a decent job. And... there's a little icon in the address bar where it can be turned on/off. Was on HuffPo and going to watch some video about John Travlolta and Quantas. It wasn't there, due to blocking. All I had to do was click the icon and turn it off.
Seems Simple Ad Block didn't think out the alternatives to their product before becoming uncompetitive. -

looks like they .. wait for it .. didn't think outside the box!
